Astilleros Gondan awarded the building contract for three Melkøya tugs.

Østensjø Rederi AS (ØR) has signed a building contract for the delivery of 3 x Escort tugs of RAL4000 DF design. The selected shipyard is Astilleros Gondan, Spain, which are chosen based on an extensive evaluation taken into account; experience, quality, price and delivery time. ØR is very familiar with Gondan as the yard have delivered 8 vessels to the company since 2005, i.e. five tugs of this size and three large PSVs.

The tree escort tugs will have a bollard pull of 100 tons and escorte steering force of 155 tons. The propulsion system will be a dual fuel system that can operate on LNG or marine gas oil. The vessels, designed by, the Canadian designer Robert Allan, is 40 meter long and 16 meter beam. The tugs will be delivered Q1-Q2 2017.
