Østensjø Rederi AS has been awarded a contract by Shell UK Limited to provide platform supply duties to their offshore installations in the North Sea.

The contract period is 5 years + options and will commence mid January 2009. The supply duties will be carried out by the platform supply vessel – NB443 – which will be delivered from Astilleros Gondan, Spain in June 2009. The first six months of the contract will be operated by the platform supply vessel Edda Frigg.

NB443’s sister vessel – Edda Fram – is currently under long term contract to Shell UK. Edda Fram and NB443 are designed by Skipsteknisk in close cooperation with Østensjø Rederi. The design ST216 has a low resistance hull and excellent sea keeping capabilities. This, in combination, with Voith Schneider propulsion resulting in low fuel oil consumption and high transit speed. During the last six months Østensjø Rederi AS has entered into contracts with various Charterers for a value of approximately NOK 1,1 billion.
