Edda Wind is now forming its administration with Kenneth Walland as the Chief Executive Officer. The administration will also include a small group of key positions.

Walland is educated Master Mariner and has spent the majority of his professional career in Østensjø Rederi. However, he started his seagoing career in the Norwegian merchant navy, later he worked for the Norwegian Coastguard, Royal Caribbean Cruises, and the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate. Since 1994, Walland has been working in the administration of Østensjø Rederi, the last five years as CEO. Over the last six years, he has been vital in developing Edda Wind. Walland will now leave the position as CEO in Østensjø Rederi and focus 100 % on Edda Wind.

– I am very excited about this opportunity, says Walland. Even though it is tough to leave Østensjø Rederi after three decades, this is an opportunity I could not pass. Edda Wind is an extremely good platform in order to take advantage of the expected growth within offshore wind. The experience and knowledge we have built are unique. In addition, we have a newbuild program of six vessels at very attractive prices, which are optimised for the future need of the industry.

The Edda Wind management will also consist of a Chartering Manager and a Chief Financial Officer. Håkon Vevang has accepted the position as Chartering Manager. Vevang comes from the position as Charterer in Østensjø Rederi where he has been responsible for chartering within offshore wind. The position as CFO is vacant, and the company will commence the process of recruitment shortly. The need for further positions in the company will be continuously evaluated as the company grows.

– The establishment of an administration in Edda Wind is an important step in the development of the company. In order to further develop the company in a very interesting segment, it is crucial to have a dedicated management with the right experience and competence. Thus, we are very happy that Kenneth Walland has accepted the position of CEO. Walland and Vevang have proven very successful in developing the business so far, and we are confident that they are the right persons to further develop the company, says Håvard Framnes, Chairperson Edda Wind.

Østensjø Rederi will continue to deliver ship management and corporate services to Edda Wind. This will enable Edda Wind to continue to take advantage of the experience and competence developed over five decades.
